Sakura Shrine girls is an ecchi bishoujo visual novel developed by Winged Cloud. The story follows Toru, a teenager whose skeptical beliefs will be challenged by the appearance of two spirit catgirls, Kayo and Nayoko. He is revealed as the descendant of a long family tradition of medium priests that help otherworldy spirits and keep the peace between the spirit realm and the human world. As such, his job is to help Kayo and Nayoko ascend as guardian spirits of the human world. But maybe, love is also waiting for him along his mission.

Fetishes it covers
Sakura Shrine Girls is a exclusively ecchi game. As such, it doesn't have any actual hentai, but it does have some spicy scenes in the tone of a semi-erotic comedy. In these you'll mostly find teasing, public exposure and... I guess some yuri? Yuri baiting?
Ratings & review
-Art: 9/10. The art in this game is gorgeous. It's super cute, it has a very nice style that's soft and colorful, and there are a lot of CGs. My main problem is the same problem I have with most Sakura games... The lack of portrait art. Nayoko and Kayo's portraits have a lot of expressions and multiple poses, and feel very alive, but... Those are the only two characters that have portraits. The rest of the characters just... Don't get a portrait at all. It makes reading the story unnecessarily confusing, and it makes the game feel lazy.
-Gameplay: Classic visual novel gameplay, click to advance the text and read the story. There's a CG gallery in the main menu too, and the UI is overall pretty nice.
-Story: 3/10. Sadly, as much as I liked the art, I couldn't bring myself to like the story. It's a fairly fantastical story about spirits and magic and other worlds, and yet... It defaults to a very basic slice of life comedy. The plot felt like it had a lot of potential, but it was mostly wasted. The game is divided in a variety of scenes in which they mostly show you the everyday life of Toru, Toru's grandfather, Kayo and Nayoko. In these scenes, you'll watch Kayo and Nayoko in constant... catfights (excuse the pun), because they can't stand each other; you'll learn small details about the spirit world, Toru's family tradition and Toru's newfound medium powers; and you'll see a lot of fanservice. And that's about it. The story is cute, but with nothing actually happening in it, it was pretty boring for me. In fact, I eventually just sort of skimmed through the novel and I never had the sense that I was missing anything. Even the endings were pretty anticlimactic, and the development of the love story was based on "she's hot, so I'm gonna make her my girlfriend" for all 3 of the endings.
-OST/Sound design: Was there. Not really worth noting but not annoying. None of the tracks got my attention.
-Bugs: The speed of the auto text seemed broken, or at least unbalanced enough to seem like it, so I had to go through the game manually. Also, not really a bug, I guess, but the girls must have had a name change or something at some point, because their names in the game (Kayo and Nayoko) don't match the names they have on their Steam trading cards (Amaya and Suzuko).
-Fap worth: This one's hard to tell. Sakura Shrine Girls doesn't have any actually explicit content. All of its erotic appeal relies on fanservice scenes, of which there are many. Most of the game's unlockable CGs are more or less spicy, you'll see plenty of panty shots, boobs (but not nips), even censored nudity. Its fap worth fully depends on how well you do with non-explicit, though still spicy stuff.
Recommended?
Well... I can't say that I recommend it. It's short, it's definitely not worth 10$, the story was mostly boring, and there isn't much more than fanservice to look forward to in this game. However, it is cute and the art is very good, so maybe if the price drops a lot in some Steam sale event and you're interested in the art, you could give it a try to see all the CGs and read all the scenes by yourself. But you really aren't missing out if you don't pick this one up.
Final rating is 5/10.
