Review: Sakura Gamer

Sakura Gamer is a visual novel developed by Winged Cloud. In the story, you'll play as Nekohime, a nerdy girl who fixes computers for a living and lives with her best friend, the outgoing and obnoxious Clover. Nekohime's peaceful life will be disrupted by the appearance of her new tenant, Suki, a rebellious artist that doesn't seem to know shame or rules. Together, the three of them will decide to put their gaming knowledge and skills to create their own visual novel.

Technical stuff

    -H subgenre: Yuri.

-Playtime: Took me about 5 hours to finish.

-Where to get it?: You can get it on Steam for 9'99€, I guess about 10$.

-Does it need a patch for +18 content?: Yes, but it's pretty easy to find and install if you follow a guide. There are plenty on the Steam Guides page of the game. Without the patch, the game is just ecchi instead of hentai, and there are no sex scenes.

-Languages it comes in: Text comes in English and Simplified Chinese. It doesn't have voices.

-DLC's: No DLC's for this game.

Fetishes it covers

Sakura Gamer is a strictly yuri game. No men in this game, only cute girls. Apart from that, you'll find threesomes... And not much more. There's some masturbation, wet clothes, food and watching too, but it's a pretty vanilla game in general.

Ratings & reviews

-Art: 9/10. The best part of the game. The CG's and sprites are cute and sexy, the art style is cohesive and colorful, and the character designs are somewhat interesting. The art of the ecchi/H scenes also feels dinamic for the most part, and you can almost feel how soft the boobies are. The only downside of the art is that it feels too "prudish" (?) for a ecchi title, let alone for a hentai one.

-Story: 5'5/10. It's a fairly simple story in which not much happens. It's a romantic slice of life, so the stakes are pretty low and the story focuses on being cute and wholesome. This one has a nice little twist, though. Since it's a visual novel about making a visual novel, it has some meta scenes and interactions, which I liked. Most of the scenes are silly and funny, and have some casually spicy elements, but none of the narrative of Sakura Gamer intends to blow your mind.

-Gameplay: It's a visual novel, so there isn't much gameplay to begin with. You click on the screen to advance the story and make choices every now and then. Depending on your choices, you'll get one out of three possible endings. The game also has a CG gallery, accessible from the main menu.

-Bugs: I don't remember finding any, but this is a very basic visual novel after all.

-Fap worth: Depends on how picky you are. You'll get plenty of boobs and a bit of ass, but no pussy whatsoever. There are no animations in this game either, so the CG's are all still images. The ecchi and the hentai scenes are pretty simple too, but if you're into vanilla yuri, this might just work for you.

Recommended?

Only on sale, only if you're very into yuri, and only if you like boobs more than pussy or ass. It's not a *bad* game... But you also won't miss much if you skip on this one. Still, if you like the CG's and you enjoy cute slice of life romances, go for it... When it's on sale. 10$ isn't really worth the short length and amount/quality of ecchi/hentai. It does deliver what it promises, it just doesn't promise much. Luckily, the game is a bit old, so you can get it for 4$ or so in any Steam sale event if you're interested.

Final rating is 6/10.
