Mirror is a game developed by KAGAMI WORKS that combines visual novel segments with match-three style “combat” with some very slight RPG bits, in that you can level up your stats and get different skills with the money you get from the battles. Through a magic mirror we'll get to live different stories (that's what I got out of it anyway, truth is they never explain this part to you), each of them starring a cute girl that we'll get to “fight” a few times before taking her to bed. Depending on how gentle or rough we are with her, we'll get her “pain” or “pleasure” endings. The stories we play will be independent from one another, and our character will differ between them as well.
Technical stuff
-H subgenre: Mostly bishoujo, but there's a little bit of yuri in there.
-Playtime: It took me 17 hours to complete the game and DLC at 100% and get all achievements, but keep in mind I'm slower than average.
-Where to get it?: You can get it on Steam for 1'99€, which I guess is at least close to 2$.
-Does it need a patch for +18 content?: Yes it does, but it's not hard to find, there's multiple guides on the game's “Guides” page on where to download it and how to install it. You might need a few tries to get it to work if you aren't used to patching/cracking games or software though. Without the patch, the game is still hentai, but censored.
-Languages it comes in: Text is in English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Russian. Voices come only in Japanese.
-DLC's: This game has a few:
-The Lost Shards will unlock 4 additional stories, each with its own girl.
-Mirror Cosplay Album will allow you to download a lot of HD pictures of models cosplaying as the game's characters. These don't include +18 content.
-Mirror OST is pretty self descriptive.
-Songs of the Maidens will include some character themes in the game.
-Enchanting reflections will add a bunch of (non-H) CG's to the game.
Fetishes it covers
This game covers a bit of everything that's more or less common, but never too much of anything. There's feet, flat chest, big boobs, ass, BDSM, loli, MILF, noncon, vanilla, hardcore, some yuri, and there's specific endings dedicated to piss and hardcore gore. But skipping the stuff you don't like is pretty easy if you aren't particularly interested on getting the 100%. Just hold Ctrl to fast forward.
Ratings & review
-Art: 7/10. It's very nice in general terms, but the game makes a lot of use of Live 2D animations, and they can look a bit uncanny sometimes. There's a lot of CG's (and you can buy a DLC to get even more), and it's obvious they've been done by different artists. So there isn't too much of a cohesive art style, and some CG's are better than others.
-Story: 7'5/10. The stories are nice, they're short and many are interesting enough, if a little weird sometimes. Some have plotwists that make more or less sense, and the endings can vary from more hentai to wholesome cute happy ending. All stories make use of fantasy in one way or another, but the fantasy varies too: you have medieval fantasy, monster girls, demons, succubi, jiang shi (chinese zombies), time travelers, etc.
-Gameplay: Doesn't have much gameplay apart from the match-three “battles”, but they aren't bad. They're easy enough to not be a problem, but can be somewhat challenging. However, the game very obviously doesn't want you to get stuck, and upon losing a few times in a row, will give you tips on how to win against the particular girl you're fighting, and extra money to help you level up or get different skills. In the visual novel segments, you'll get one choice per chapter (there's 3 per girl), that will determine if she gets a buff or a nerf for that specific battle. There's also more content beyond unlocking both endings for each girl, you can fight a final battle with each of them to get them to 200% completion (this only gives you an achievement though), and there's an endless battle mode.
-Bugs: I did encounter a few, but I'm pretty sure it had more to do with the patch archives getting corrupted at some point.
-Fap worth: It holds up nicely, but I've seen better. The H scenes are short, but they're well varied in setting, character, position, angle, etc. They are voiced too. However, some feel like a wasted oportunity at doing something more interesting.
Recommended?
Yes. It does have a lot of decent content for 2 bucks. The art isn't perfect, but a good chunk of it is very good, and the stories are more or less interesting, and are short enough to not be boring anyways.
Final rating is 7.5/10.
